What the heck, cocktails on a school night? Yup, indeed we called in at Bennys Formentera to sample some cocktails. Now I have to admit I am not really a cocktail drinker, my go to is either an Old Fashioned or a Bloody Mary, but I have been known to try others from time to time. One I did try in 3 different bars, just for research purposes, was a cocktail called The Mudslide, which you can see and read about here, to see what it is like.
I got totally hammered on Cappuccino Martinis in Barcelona a couple of years back and never looked at them since, but that is another story. The same applies to anything with Pernod or Ricard, thanks to me being in the military and just 18 and not had aniseed flavoured spirits since then.
So when we saw on their Facebook page Benny’s Formentera were now doing a cocktail of the week, and with this weeks being the Coco Loco, I decided I wanted to go try this one out. I think that Baileys and Malibu work well together, so this did sound tempting. In fact it was so tempting the first one vanished rather quickly, so I needed a second one to remind myself how good the first one was.
Soph had kindly offered to do the drive back home, so she asked for a non alcoholic mocktail and one was made up there and then which she really liked.
With each drink we bought we had a canape served which was both a nice touch, but also tasty.
For my third drink, I went for the Screaming Orgasm cocktail, which is vodka, coffee liqueur, Amaretto liqueur, Baileys and milk. Again this was nice and refreshing.
Wednesday and Thursday they do a Cocktail hour from 5pm – 7pm with their cocktails at €5 each.
Would We Return?
Heck yes we would do so and any bar that has a play list including Massive Attack, Moby and Sade, to name but a few great artists, deserves a visit.
The venue is nice and cool inside, it’s not a huge establishment but there is seating a plenty. What I liked was watching the cocktails being made up, there is none of that premade stuff here.
As we entered we saw a table of guests enjoying a cheeseboard, which looked lovely. I will probably pre order one of these next time, as I am partial to nice cheeses especially Blue Stilton.

Easiest way to describe how we got there is come from the AP7 on the main road ( CV 905 ) into the town, you will pass on your right the Asador Argentino Buenos Aires, and then Cerveceria El Pantanico. When you come to the traffic lights on the main road, it is the second right after these lights, which take you up past Bar Candy, along C. Joaquín Canales. We managed to grab on street parking there and then walked down the small side street on the right, which brings you out on Calle Mayor.
Although, sadly, we did not manage to get to the 2024 event, we’re hoping to make it to attending the Formentera Del Segura tapas run this next year.
