As we were going to be in Benijofar, Soph suggested we tick Luma Brunch off our list of places to try. This was a great idea as we would be there far too early for lunch, so we decided to have breakfast.
This is a lovely little place, there are 6 or 7 tables out on the terrace at the front and plenty of seating indoors. We hadn’t booked, but we seemed to have timed things just right. I would suggest booking in advance, during the busy months.
I very rarely had breakfast at home and it’s not that often we have breakfast when we go out, however from time to time we get the urge for an early morning meal out..More often than not, it’s a tostada and a drink, nothing too fancy. But today was one of those days when it was nice to go for something a little more elevated.
What We Had
We both had a drink each and a dish for breakfast,
Drinks.
I had a Choco Loco smoothie; this was like a liquid Snickers bar, with banana, but I loved it.

Soph was the more sensible and had a fresh juice, the Tropical Feels juice blend.

Food.
Mine was an easy choice, as soon as I’d seen it on the menu – Shakshuka. For those who have never had Shakshuka , it’s a delicious traditional breakfast recipe of eggs poached in a rich, spiced tomato sauce popular in North Africa and the Middle East. I first had this in either Tunisia or Egypt 20 years or so ago. It’s a really enjoyable and flavoursome dish, that sadly only a few places out here in Spain, have on their menu, that I have found.
A really enjoyable dish, served with warm bread. The flavours were layered and the eggs were cooked perfectly. I did add the feta on too, for a small surcharge.

Soph had the bagel with poached egg, smoked salmon and avocado. Beautifully cooked egg, the dish was full of flavour and very filling.

What We Liked
The food was exceptional, the drinks likewise. Regarding the service, the staff were very welcoming, friendly, and on the ball. They carried out a check back with all customers and they worked well as a team.
What Could Be Improved
Nothing as a reflection of our visit today, but it would be great to have a menu online, especially when you have an active Facebook page. I like to see what dishes places have in advance, and sometimes if there’s something on a menu I really want to try, that would encourage us to visit a restaurant or eatery.
When the bill came, on the plate were 5 sweets. Now as we all know, these are the things that can cause an argument, so 4 or 6 would be a better option for a couple and as I already took the only strawberry one, Soph felt it was appropriate to snaffle the other 4. I’m not one to hold a grudge but she better be quick off the mark the next time we visit 🙂
What It Cost For Breakfast
The bill for our very enjoyable breakfast was 29,35€
The breakdown of this was:
- My Choco Loco Smooth 6,95€
- Shakshuka 8,50€ including the feta ( or 7.25€ without ).
- Soph’s Tropical Feel Juice was 4,95 €
- Bagel with poached egg, smoked salmon and avocado 8,95€

Granted it’s not a coffee and tostada for 3,50€, but trust me when I say, this was worth every penny. It’s great to see somewhere local doing excellent smoothies, especially since Urban Coast Cafe closed its doors down in Quesada.
Would We Return To Luma Brunch
This is another ‘100%, of course’ places. Great food, friendly service, tucked away little location, it’s a place we’ll be back to, for sure.
