We popped into Algorfa today, the farmacia on the main road was showing it was 40c as we drove past. I walked up to Café el Badulake in the square, next to the town hall, while Soph did a couple of chores in the town. This was one of the bars we called in a few months back and we both really liked it. I think on that day, we were the only non Spanish in there.
When we were last here, we said it reminded us of a Cuevas type bar, referring back to when we lived in Cuevas Del Campo, down in Granada. It had the same feel, as the bars down in the small village there.
What We Had
Drinks
I started off with a tanque of Radler, as it was so hot and I do find this a refreshing drink. When Soph arrived she ordered herself a refreshing granizado. This is a slushy/frozen drink, if you have never heard of this before. This is quite popular with the younger Spanish, during the summer. It’s served by a ladle usually, straight from a freezer. It’s ideal on these hot summer days, if you fancy something different.
I did indulge in a second tanque of Radler, while Soph went for a Coke Zero, this time round.
Tapas
First one that I ordered was the Magra. This was a good sized portion, plenty of bread in the basket. Full of flavour, a really nice sauce and very enjoyable. The meat was nicely cooked and tender.
As we were having a second drink, it’s only polite to have more tapas. This time I asked for the chorizo. This was cooked to order, a lovely tasty dish, yet again a nice sized portion, plenty for two of us to share and a good basket of bread to mop up the sauce.
What We Liked
There is nothing to dislike here. Great staff, friendly service, really good tapas, cold drinks, reasonable prices and a nice central location for people watching.
What Could Be Improved
Nothing. It’s that simple, there was nothing that needed working on.
What Did It Cost
All in all, for the 4 drinks and couple of tapas, this was a very reasonable 18.20€ .
Drinks.
The tanques were 3.00€ each, the granizado was 1.90€ and the coke was 1.80€ ( for a 330ml can ).
Tapas.
The Magra was 4.50€ , while the chorizo was 4.00€ . Bread was included here!
Would We Return To Cafe el Badulake
Without a doubt, this is a wonderful, friendly bar. Inexpensive yet still manage to serve really good tapas. I saw later on, they have a Facebook page and on there they also do daily lunch menu options.
The next decision about here will be, do we try more tapas or go for the lunch menu…..?
How To Find Café el Badulake
If you know the town, it’s a doddle to find Café el Badulake. Follow the signs for the town hall, the bar is to the left, as you look at the buildings. As we had parked on the main road through the town, I strolled to where the Vega Fibre shop is and went up the street adjacent.
As I mentioned they are on Facebook, their details on their page, they are active on there as well as Instagram too.

You’re best to park on the main road, as parking around these back streets is minimal at the best.
One thing to note, they say they are closed on Tuesdays, but today was Tuesday. I’m guessing they were open today as it is the fiesta season.
Whatever you do, give Café el Badulake a try next time you’re in Algorfa.
