We popped down to Playa Flamenca on Friday and decided while we were down that way, we’d try Fetta Nera for lunch. I’ve often seen their social media posts, their menu and photos of their food, so it was on our list already.
When we visit Gong, you have to walk past this place and each time we’ve been down in the centre, it’s been a busy restaurant.
What We Had At Restaurant Fetta Nera
Drinks
As they had Estrella Galicia on draught, which was my beer of choice when we lived in Cuevas Del Campo, it would have been rude not to have a pint of this. Soph chose Aquarius Lemon.
Food
We went for the 3 for 12 tapas and a panuzzo & chips lunch special.
Padron Peppers, with rock salt and hot sauce.
I adore padron peppers, when done right and these were done right. The hot sauce wasn’t one of these fiercely hot sauces, but it was a more gentle heat but with a little bit of a kick in there for good measure, without being too over powering.
Chilli & Tomato Meatballs
These were delightful, with a nice sauce, good consistency and a generous covering of grated parmesan cheese on the top.
Pork Belly Bites
I really liked these, they had taste, they had texture and they had meat too. Some establishments serve up basically pork crackling / scratching, but here this was proper pork belly pieces and very enjoyable they were.
Slow Cooked Beef Panuzzo
This is quite a substantial dish and filling. The slow cooked beef was tender but for me it just needed something to expand the flavour, especially after being spoiled with the sauces with the tapas dishes. This came with a jalapeno mayo, but sadly this wasn’t noticeable at all. The chips were skin on chips, but again needed seasoning to bring these up to par with the tapas dishes.
What We Liked About Fetta Nera
The service was excellent, the server was very friendly, attentive and she made us feel welcome. The tapas dishes were all very tasty, good quality ingredients and very enjoyable. The different menus all have some wonderful sounding and appealing dishes.
From the outside this has curb appeal, it’s clean and tidy as well as makes you feel welcome.
What Could Be Improved
There was nothing major that needed any improvement, the personal choice for me would have been the inclusion with the panuzzo of a small portion of the hot sauce being offered or a gravy / jus if that was possible. This was just to add a touch more flavour to the dish, not to make it moist, as the dish was very tender.
What It Cost Us Today
Our lunch was 28.50€ in total. This was broken down as;

Estrella Galicia was 4€ for a pint, the can Aquarius lemon at 2.50€
Food.
The tapa dishes were 12€ for the 3, so basically were 4€ each. The Panuzzo with chips was 10.00€
Would We Return To Fetta Nera
Yes, we probably would if we were in the area. This is around a 30 minute drive to get down here and we have plenty of great restaurants and bars much closer. However, if we were in the neighbourhood, then we’d probably come back. There are so many nice sounding dishes on the menu that it’s always worth visiting and trying these for yourself.
