This is a great company, Redgas Almoradi who came and replaced our 18 year old boiler that packed up on us.
It’s the end of November, still warm enough to sit outdoors in shorts in the direct sunshine during the day, but evenings are much cooler. The nights are cold, so from 9pm until 8pm, you need a burner on before bed, then the duvet in the bedroom.
Having access to a hot water supply is essential; a cold shower in winter isn’t much fun in your late 50s and onwards, trust me.
Anyway, it’s 9am Monday morning I’m just about to jump in the shower then get ready to pop out to meet friends for a coffee and the water is lukewarm at best. I go outside, and the Propane gas bottle feels very lightweight, so I swap this over, thinking this is the job done.
Oh no, I’m back in the shower, same lukewarm water. Maybe I have swapped over the wrong gas bottle, so back outside I go. The Butane bottle feels lighter than expected, so that must be it, I thought. I swap over the Butane, wander back inside, looking forward to a nice hot shower.
Nope, still only lukewarm water. Soph by this time has come back from exercising the dogs on the field, she sees me with my bath towel wrapped around me and she says ” I’ll hop in the shower after you “, to which I laugh and explain why I haven’t already been in.
This was not a good start to the day, nor the week. Maybe not as bad as the countrywide power outage months back, but this was not a good start.
Time To Phone The Experts
We rang an English plumber who lives not too far away and asked if he could call in and have a look at the boiler. He was working away, and it wouldn’t be possible until the end of the week, he told us. So we rang Redgas Almoradi, who had serviced this for us 2 and a half years ago.
The lady who took the call spoke good English, she advised us that an engineer would be out later in the afternoon, around 6pm or maybe 6.30pm. Around 30 minutes later, the phone rings again, another woman, who says ‘you spoke to my colleague about the engineer, ‘ I’m thinking oh no, this is not getting cancelled it is. Anyway she advises he’ll be there an hour earlier – bonus!
At 5pm the engineer from Redgas Almoradi arrives, he comes into the house, tries the boiler. He removes the cover, tries various things, but it’s not firing properly. He speaks a little bit of English ( more than I do Spanish ) and explains that it is a specific part that is not working and is broken inside.
I asked how much roughly for the part, he said I’ll find out but the boiler is 18 years old and it might not be avaialble. SO I said, give me a price for a new boiler and how soon can you fit it.
At this point both myself and my wallet are twitching. Someone I know in the UK just had the same issue, an old boiler, 13 years old had packed up. The parts were no longer available off the shelf. They were looking at a week to get the parts in, then once in arrange the fitting etc. They were unable to get a price there and then, as they didn’t know the cost of the parts.
As they didn’t want to wait another week at least with no hot water, they went for a new boiler and paid well over £850 for this, including the instllation, which took place 3 days after giving the go ahead.

Anyway, my guy from Redgas Almoradi is on the phone, stood next to me, so I can hear what is being said. He scribbles some notes on a scrap of paper, hangs up the phone. He then scrolls through his phone and shows me an image of a boiler, explaining that this is the one; it is an Ariston.
He then writes out the official estimate, which in total comes to 535€.
I asked ” how soon to fit this and how long will it take?” and he replied, “Tomorrow afternoon, around 5pm, at the most 2 hours”. I gave the go ahead.
I asked how much for the visit today, he replied nothing it is included!
Tuesday
It’s 10 am, the phone rings and it’s one of the women from Redgas. My first thoughts are, this is bad news, a delay or something. How wrong was I? she was ringing to confirm we’d be in and he’d be there at 4.30pm if not a little earlier.
it was the same guy who turned up, at just after 4.05, he lugged all the kit in and after making sure I’d turned the water off started the work.
He was finished in around an hour and a half, and he walked me through the operating of the new boiler ( which looks very modern ). He cleaned up after himself, wiped down the countertop and sink, and swept the floor too. A really good work ethic.
He got us the official factura, we paid this in cash. He left the folder with the paperwork, instructions, and warranty etc.

Why We Like Redgas Almoradi
When we first moved in, we had them service the boiler and the gas pipes and connectors. We got the 5 year sticker on the machine to show it was covered etc. Until this week, we have never had any issue with this.
We needed a new gas hob 18 months ago, we browsed online, spoke to several companies / one man bands and Redgas, who were in Dolores at the time, had these in stock. We went to view them in their showroom, couldn’t see the right size, so they said they’d send someone out to have a look etc. They came, brought a catalogue and showed us the options, we ordered one and it was fitted 2 days later
This is the third time we have used Redgas and every time we have been very, very happy with them.
